We are having new ministers from the beginning of September.
Revd John Squares
He is married to Nicola Squares, and they have two children, Jack and Brodie.
John trained at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia.
He was previously in the NW of England, where he has had a regional wide appointment.
Ruth come to Durham in September 2018, after working at Manchester Central Hall.
She will be working alongside the other ministers particularly at North Road and Elvet.
Her role is to act as a bridge between people in the church community and the wider community.
Prior to being a deacon Ruth worked for many years as a teacher, both in the UK and abroad.
Last August (2018) we said goodbye to The Revd Shaun Swithenbank, BSc
Shaun is in his 50s and did his undergraduate studies in combined sciences in Wales. Working first as a teacher and then training for the ministry, he served as a Methodist Minister in Rochdale and Harrogate before coming to Durham.
His wife, Jane, is an optometrist and they have two children.
They have moved to work in Wigan.
and also to Deacon Annette Sharp BA
Annette joined the team in Sept 2013, having lived in West Yorkshire for many years and then training at Wesley House, Cambridge.
Prior to training as a Methodist Deacon she had a long and successful career as an Occupational Therapist in the NHS. This has given her valuable experience of working alongside people in many and varied life circumstances.
Annette is ‘mum’ to two married daughters and has two young grandchildren.
For hobbies, she says it is easier to say what she won’t do – base jumping, parachuting or bungee jumping, most other things she’ll at least have a go at.
Annette has moved to Marple.
